I was looking for a miniature dachshund pup for quite some time. After some research, I came across many positive reviews about Seamist Kennels. I contacted Anne and told her what I was looking for.
My pup arrived safe and sound and was everything I had hoped for and more. A healthy, happy, well-socialized puppy. All my dealings with Anne from the initial conversation to after the pup’s arrival were honest, open, and positive. She sent regular updates and photos along the way. She looks after her animals impeccably, vet treatments are up to date. Even the arrangement of travel down to Invercargill was fuss-free and easy. Registration papers were sent soon after her arrival and my pup has been doing really well in the show ring.
If anyone was looking for a quality, well cared for and bred miniature dachshund, I would not hesitate in recommending Seamist Kennels. It was a great experience! Thank you to Anne and her team.

Anne + John have the biggest hearts and delivered the most beautiful little boy I could ask for. @fearlessfranklin came from Seamist Kennel in Wellington. Franklin flew up from Wellington to Auckland safely which was organised by Anne through AirNZ. He was sent up with a little care package.
Not only did they help with every step of the way, whether it’s what I needed or what food to feed him. Anne has always given me the best advice. I was sent photos, videos, and regular updates which were really nice. They delivered a healthy, happy pup as they promised! Would highly recommend Seamist Kennel. 🤍
Thank you for the most beautiful pup I could ever ask for! Franklin is everything I’ve ever wanted and more.

My partner and I decided it was time to get another miniature smooth coated Dachshund. It was time as we had a beautiful girl for 15 years, 15 years ago. We had travelled extensively and had a family of our own, so it was the right time and we wanted to share the Dachshund experience with our kids. I didn’t really know where to start as the last breeder I knew was no longer breeding and Dachshunds are fairly rare in NZ especially the smooth-coated minis. I went on to the NZ Dachshund Facebook page and asked around. I was very particular wanting a miniature, smooth-haired female. Although my last girl was red in colour, I was happy to have either red or black and tan.
I saw several posts on this page of beautiful puppies and recommendations for a Wellington breeder called “Seamist”. I was so impressed with the puppies I saw, I wanted to get in touch with Seamist. I looked Seamist breeders up on the internet and emailed to enquire about a new puppy for our family. I received an email from Ann and John in Wellington stating that they had a waiting list and would I like to be added. There would be a wait of about four months but if one became available before then, they would contact me. I was over the moon that I was finally going to be a puppy mumma again. It would be so worth the wait, I didn’t hesitate. I was on the list!
Finally, but sooner than I expected, Ann called me and said that my baby girl had been born and was happy that she was black and tan colour. I was over the moon and our family went on puppy shopping sprees and settled on a name for her TAFFY! Ann and John continued to update us with photos, information and vaccination updates of Taffy growing through her eight weeks until she was ready to leave her mother and start her new life with us. It was nice to see her regularly with photo’s before we met her. We got to meet Ann and John in their fabulous home! We met Taffy’s gorgeous mother and brother. We were given some time with Taffy and a pack with all of her details, booklet, care plan, pet insurance details, a snuggly rug with Taffy’s mother smell on it and a toy.
We knew right away that we had brought a puppy from reputable breeders. The dogs were well taken care of and Ann was extremely knowledgeable. Ann and John answered all of our questions and continued to keep the lines of communication open after we had taken our baby home. We still keep in touch, so if I need any help, it’s only a phone call away. We have had Taffy for nearly 12 weeks now and she is just the best! Ann and John have bred the purest and finest mini Dachshunds. I was so in love with my last girl and the only difference this time is their colour. They are so similar in so many ways, clever, full of character, loving and adorable!
Taffy is not only a welcomed addition to the household but she has filled a long-overdue void in the family. She was definitely worth the wait she brings so much love and happiness to our family and home that it’s hard to recall what life was like before she joined us.
Ann and John are not only professional they are very loving and caring and makes sure their puppies are settled into good homes. They are breeding puppies that are all healthy, happy and loved. Thank you both for being the best breeder ever. Your integrity shines and you have been a blessing to many families as they too get to experience the beauty of your well-bred puppies. You have blessed us with Taffy, she is truly amazing!
Our family highly recommends Seamist Kennels for miniature smooth coated Dachshunds, if you are searching for the best of the best! You will not be disappointed, we certainly are not!

I feel blessed to have been referred to Anne of Seamist Kennels in Wellington. Two of my friends, who each own one of her Miniature Dachshund pups, introduced me to Anne.
In searching for our new doggo we were mindful of the many dodgy breeders and puppy mills out there and we certainly came across them in our search for a new pup. Anne is straight up, generous with her information about this unique breed, and only wants the best for her pups. She matches puppies to owners and we ended up with exactly what we wanted - a smaller sized and ‘chilled’ personality puppy. Our little boy Skipper is a true delight and we know that Anne is there for us behind the scenes for life to help us build our knowledge on this superb little breed of dog.
Thank you, Anne, you come highly recommended as a top-quality breeder, keep up the awesome work!
With kindest regards.

In December 2020 two miniature Black and Tan Dachshund puppies became a part of our family from Seamist Kennels in Wellington. We have called them Sia and Sinha. We have had Dachshunds as pets for over 50 years and these two would be our 11th and 12th.
We can honestly say we have never loved two puppies as much as these two little terrors – they were so tiny when they arrived that the whole family and visitors mauled them from dawn to dusk and they have been so spoilt that they remind us of the modern day kids – centre of attention and sooo spoilt, but we cannot help it. We have never had two puppies who are as intelligent and “switched on” – they know every inch of the three and a half acres of garden and 30 acres of pastoral land and kiwifruit orchard and know exactly where we are every minute of the day. Although they both have their own personalities they have the most amazing temperaments and have never snapped or growled at anyone or anything – ducks, cats, horses, children and their big sister Cissy a chocolate Labrador.
Anne was amazing in keeping us up to date with the puppies progress, house training and finally in sending them by air to their new home. We don’t know what our lives would be like if we hadn’t heard of Seamist Kennels and highly recommend them for your next puppy.

My husband and I bought Sider from Seamist Kennels in February of 2021. We knew that getting a mini dachshund pup wasn’t an easy task as we really wanted to buy from a reputable breeder. We heard so many bad stories…
So I made contact with John and Anne who luckily had one mini red smooth haired available.
Anne and John were extremely knowledgeable. They answered all of our questions and continued to keep the lines of communication open after we brought our little boy home. Now, let me tell you about our treasure that we decided to call SIDER.
Due to the Auckland lockdown, we had to wait a little bit and got Sider when he was 11 weeks old. I truly believe this couple of additional weeks with his mum were very beneficial as she taught him the biting pressure. Sider never bit our hands nor furniture. (only his toys!)
This puppy is not only a welcomed addition to the household, but Sider has filled a long-overdue void in the family. It took us 20 years before deciding to get another Dachshund and he was definitely worth the wait. Sider brings so much love and happiness into our home that it’s hard to recall what life was like before he joined our family.
He has an amazing temperament; he wakes you up in the morning with a full face washing and greets you at the door with the speediest of tail wags. As many dachshunds, Sider always wants to be by your side. He is a bundle of energy and enjoys going for walks and plays in the park with the other dogs. I am also happy to report that he passed his puppy classes at the top of the class and his training is still going well. We are actually running out of tricks to teach him. From basic commands to ring the bell, Sider learns very quickly. We have had many compliments about how wonderful Sider is; From his colouring to his gentle manner, From his soft coat to his attractive looks. Sider really has completed our family and we are truly grateful for John and Anne for blessing us with the best gift of all, our healthy and loving boy.

Our little miniature girl Frankie came into our lives from Seamist nearly three years ago.
The transaction, communication, and the final arrival of our baby was seamless.
She is the sweetest-natured, most lovable, little dog.
Can’t recommend it highly enough, if you are planning on the addition of a Dachshund to your family you can’t go past Seamist Kennels

We absolutely loved our entire experience with Anne (and John) at Seamist Kennels. We were totally impressed with how passionate Anne is about her puppies and how she really wants them to go to the right home.
Her advice to us (as first-time puppy owners) was invaluable and we couldn’t have done it without her or asked for a better person to have purchased our first puppy from. We adore our little boy Peanut and keep in touch with updates and photos regularly to Anne and are reassured to know that we can continue to get advice from her at any time. Without a doubt, we would 100% recommend Seamist Kennels if you are ever wanting to purchase a Miniature Smooth Dachshund - your lives will never be the same again!

We are so very fortunate to have two of Anne and Johns' gorgeous boys in our lives. They came to us the healthiest, well-adjusted, easy-going, and social little puppies, it is obvious to see that a substantial amount of attention, socialization, and care had been put into raising them in their first 8 weeks.
They are instant celebrities and make friends wherever they go, not just because they are so handsome, as we get lots of comments on how confident, friendly and comfortable they are in any situation and around all sorts of other animals.
To say they are great with children is an understatement, they absolutely adore children and being the loving curious comedians they are, certainly make the best and most entertaining pals to play with.
With the amount of joy these guys bring to our lives I cannot imagine getting a puppy anywhere else, or having any other breed.

Several years after the passing of my gorgeous mini dachshund I decided I needed to get another fabulous companion. At first, I tried to contact the breeder where I purchased Cassie from and found she was no longer breeding them. What to do now I thought? I jumped onto the computer to do some research on which breeders were out there and I found there was a breeder in Wellington that had a dog with the same bloodline as my last girl. My last girl had a wonderful temperament and never had any health issues, she lived for 16 years, so I was very keen to get in touch.
I contacted Ann and John from Seamist Kennels, Ann was so lovely. She welcomed my call and was very thorough when answering my questions. I immediately knew I would be buying from a reputable breeder. I wanted a mini smooth red boy this time and was happy to wait until the right pup came along. I felt extremely confident that I would be getting an awesome new addition to my family.
When the time came round to pick up our wee man, we arrived and were welcomed like old friends. We had the choice of two boys, both gorgeous wiggly wee bundles. Ann described both of their personalities and we chose our pup. He came with a folder with all the information needed to help the transition over as smoothly as possible. He had been to the vet for his first vaccinations, worming, and had been chipped.
Frank is a big softy, full of personality and energy. Six months after getting him I contacted Ann about getting him a wee friend, this time I wanted a Black and Tan girl. I was so excited when Ann called to say one of her sales had fallen through and that I could get this pup if the timing suited me.
OMG, Daisy is the cutest wee lady! She is gentle and delicate, so different from Frank. They are perfect buddies, their personalities complement each other, and they get on brilliantly. I couldn’t have chosen more perfect pups.
I thoroughly recommend Seamist Kennels if you are looking for the perfect addition to your family. My two are happy, healthy bundles of energy that bring me so much pleasure.
Ann has kept the lines of communication open, and I send little updates every now and then.

I have had the pleasure of purchasing a dear wee puppy from John and Anne, and they have kept me informed throughout the pregnancy and 8 weeks until weaning. I received photos and rearing information at that time. Anne is very keen to share her knowledge and assist with ongoing support.
They went out of their way to meet midway with the delivery. They have both been very pleasant and professional to deal with, and have continued to be interested in the development of my puppy.
We would not hesitate in recommending John and Anne to anyone wanting to purchase such beautiful puppies. Their integrity is impeccable.

We are lucky enough to have been able to add one of Anne's beautiful puppies to our family. We have previously owned a Yorkie among other larger dogs, who very sadly passed during the first L4 Lockdown in 2020, at 16yrs old. We were utterly grief stricken, and I swore I would not have another dog as I didn't want to feel that level of grief! Well, circumstances change, and we made the decision to add a Mini Dachshund to our family; and I am so, so incredibly pleased that we did. Freddie is just the most special little guy, and has brought so much joy to our family after a sudden tragedy we'd faced. The joy, love and healing that he has brought us is absolutely priceless.
From the beginning of our quest, Anne was incredibly helpful. There were no questions she couldn't or didn't have time to answer, and I believe that she really wanted to ensure that we got the right 'fit' in a puppy for our family and circumstances, as opposed to just 'homing' one of the puppies to a new owner.
Having not had a male dog before, I had questions - this was probably my main area of hesitation. Anne was helpful in explaining the differences between male and female Dachshunds, as well as addressing the questions I had following my own research about potential health and behaviour issues.
Practical advice followed once we'd made the decision to move forward, in terms of feeding, sleeping, training etc, as well as the logistics of getting him to us in Auckland! I felt completely supported, should I have encountered anything that I was unsure about once we got Freddie home.
The entire experience has been amazing, and we are all absolutely besotted with Freddie...so much so that we have already started discussing with Anne, the possibility of adding another one to our family!
Anne, we honestly cannot thank you enough.

We got our handsome Vincent from Anne at Seamist Kennels.
Our Black and Tan Mini is gorgeous and healthy. His temperament is happy, very loving, cuddly, very fun, and playful.
Anne took great care when selecting us- she ensures all puppies are going to a loving and safe home.
Anne guided us through the steps to bringing him home (including weekly pictures while small) and has great advice with anything from food, play, sleep, training, and more. She is a wealth of information and is generously available with any questions you might have before and after they are home.
I recommend Anne as a reputable and genuinely caring breeder.

We are first-time dog owners and received our little boy, Nero in May 2020. From the moment we first contacted Anne, till the time we received our precious boy, was nothing but a delightful experience. Anne is very knowledgeable and so easy to communicate with which made the entire process very enjoyable and stress-free.
Nero is the most beautiful, healthy, and good-natured dog you could ever wish for and we cannot imagine life without him.
We are looking forward to expanding our dachshund family in the future and would go nowhere other than Seamist.

I was privileged to get a miniature dachshund from Seamist Kennels at the beginning of 2021, who I named Gavin. Although I was put on a waitlist due to demand, my experience with Seamist Kennels was outstanding. You can tell they really care about every puppy that they sell. I was provided with ample information on the breed, what to expect, and information about how best to look after Gavin.
They were ready to answer any questions I had, before and after Gavin arrived. Gavin is such an awesome little dog, and I couldn’t have asked for a better puppy. He is people-oriented, affectionate, and confident. I would recommend Seamist Kennels to anyone looking for a miniature dachshund.

It is my absolute honor to provide this testimonial to Anne of Seamist Kennels. Like many dachshund lovers, I had longed for a shorthaired mini for several years and spent 2 years intensely looking for the right breeder. From my first interaction with Anne, I knew Seamist kennels was the breeder I wanted to receive the bundle of joy that I had wanted for so long.
Anne shared her knowledge to ensure I knew about the breed. Every step of the way Anne was in contact providing information on caring for and training of, along with weekly photos of my Roxy, sometimes daily. This is not a business for Anne it’s a passion, she deeply cares about every pup even once they have found their forever home sending regular messages.
After losing my dad in 2019 my sister and I wanted to get my Mum, Jeannie a puppy, but at the time she wasn’t ready. Come lockdown March 2020 it was quickly apparent that Mum wanted a puppy and no less a dachshund just like my Roxy. I contacted Anne and sadly her litter had forever homes ready for them. Anne been Anne wanted my Mum to have a fur baby knowing how much love it would bring her. Anne offered Miss Rosie 6 months. Rosie is Mum’s pride and joy, you can see Rosie going for a bike ride in the gallery.
Anne, I can’t thank you enough and look forward to the day I get my second dachshund from Seamist Kennels.
